Kawasaki 650 sx has 230 on the compresson tester with red Mariner Head. Please Help

I just put a new mariner head with a stock thickness (.010 in)stainless head gasket on my Kawasaki 650sx.

Got it from fleebay. Here is the link.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...m=390050993871

I did a squish test. It did not even squish the copper wire, the piston just touched it. So the squish is at .080in.

So is there a head that mariner made that would produce 230# compression. I meant to measure the dome size before I put it on, but I did not.

I did spray a little fogging oil in the cylinders before I started it up for the first time. I know that might bump the compression. But holy crap to 230# And this is on two different testers.

I am planning to run the motor for about 5 minutes in the lake to burn the oil out tomorrow and if the compression is still high, I will put a stock head on.

Are there any other ideas out there?

Any way to know the dome size without taking off the head and having to replace the head gasket?

Thanks
Mark

What will the ski do/sound like if the compression is way to high for the octane?

How long until damage occurs to the head and pistons? 5 Minutes? 2 Hours? 4 seconds?

I think that if you have too low of a octane for the compression you will get detonation. This will quickly start messing up things. 230 is such a high compression I'd first assume that the gauge is off. I would get the absolute best gauge you can get to see if it really is that high, If it is that high, i'd try a different head and see if you get the same results. Then I'd try a thicker head gasket to see if that could bring it down any. While the head id off measure the domes to see what your really working with. Since you got it off ebay it could really be anything.
